Introduction

Over the years, as I've walked back to Watervale from Old Baldy, I've come across the remains of a shipwreck buried in the sand. I've often wondered what her story was. The summer of 2004 I noticed the name of the ship listed on the informational board posted at the start of the path to Baldy. Once I began searching online for more information, I found that the story of her sinking was fascinating, dramatic, and tragic. I know that I will never be able to examine the remains without thinking of the 6 crew members and young girl who drowned during that terrible storm, or the 7 men who died in her sister ship just north of the Outlet at the same time.
